Although Linda continues to publish some of his work Paul did have some of his paintings published by UK based Washington Green. These prints were primarily depictions of domestic and rural animals, with greater emphasis on the animals than the landscape.
Although Paul continues to paint in fine detail he has given many of the pieces a more humorous edge and has played around with perspective and size which has given the images a more contemporary feel. They demonstrate his versatility as an artist to paint a range of subject matter in differing styles.
Since moving to Ireland Paul has strengthened his ties with Danny & John Bailey at Bailey Arts in Nantwich Cheshire as they agreed to become distributor for his prints and cards and have become the main gallery for sales of Paul's originals within the UK. Since his move to Ireland Paul has introduced his original paintings to the Irish Market through The James Gallery based in Exchequer St, Dublin; Paul and the owners Pat & Anita Hopper have been thrilled with the positive response that his paintings have created. His works have literally stopped the traffic in the street and sales have been hugely successful. |
In addition to being a superb fine artist Paul is also an accomplished composer and pianist. He has a particular penchant for the blues, boogie woogie and jazz. More recently he has begun to spend more time composing and playing piano with the intention of bringing his creative skills together. To this end he has become involved with Scottish based music management and production company Divamusic who held an extremely successful event "An Audience with Paul James" at The Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine, Scotland at the back end of 2006. The event involved an exhibition of Paul's paintings together with a solo piano recital and talk by Paul about his life, music and art. He was also joined by singer Katrina Fitzsimmons and musicians including Scotland's leading trumpet player Ryan Quigley and jazz saxophonist legend Bobbie Wellins for part of the show. Divamusic are currently producing an album of Paul's music and promo DVD of the "An Audience with Paul James " event. |
